Nyurapayia
Nyurapayia Name meanings & History
Indigenous Australian. Nyurapayia means "woman" or "female" in the Western Desert Language of the Pintupi people. Of Australian Aboriginal origin (Pintupi, to be precise), the meaning of this name is not yet known to me at the moment. A known bearer is Nyurapayia Nampitjinpa (b. circa 1935), an Australian Aboriginal painter. Nyurapayia is traditionally given to girls from the Pintupi culture. It is a name that is closely tied to the culture and traditions of the Pintupi people, and therefore may not be suitable for those wishing to give their child a more globally recognized name.
